(Acer rubrum 'Northwood')
The Northwood red maple is a Minnesota native shade tree with several seasons of interest. Bright red to pink flowers emerge in the spring and a show of brilliant red to orange color in the fall. A relatively fast-growing tree with a rounded oval upright form that is adaptable to many different soil conditions. Plant in a formal yard or a naturalized area such as a woodland opening or wetland edge. Be sure to wrap young bark in the winter for frost and critter protection.

Soil conditions: Slightly acidic
Moisture tolerance: Average to wet
